The start screen

After start-up — and for as long as no document is open — the application shows the start screen:

Entry point	What it does
New case	Pick a source document and create a new redaction project — the standard route.
Open case	Open an existing .dfr case (loads the document straight away).
Scan document	Capture a document through the scanner (Windows and macOS, see scanning a document).
Open document (without a case)	A quick view with no case file — for looking at a document and for an ad-hoc printout; redactions cannot be saved, and the tools are not available.

Below that, Recently used lists your most recent cases. The × removes an entry from the list — the file itself is kept.
