System requirements

Hardware and software requirements for on-premises operation — guide values for around 5,000 pages per month.

Docuflair runs as a central service on a server in your own premises — on Windows or on Linux. Users work through the browser with nothing to install. The figures below are guide values for a volume of about 5,000 pages per month; a single installation is enough for that.

Guide values for around 5,000 pages per month:

Component Requirement
Processor 8 CPU cores recommended — processing is CPU-only, no graphics card is needed; text recognition sets the pace
Memory 16 GB as a minimum, 32 GB recommended
Storage A fast SSD; roughly 0.3–1 MB per page (original, PDF rendition, preview, search index), so about 20–60 GB of growth per year. Starting size: at least 100 GB free, plus a reserve for your retention periods
Platform A physical server or a virtual machine (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM); no special hardware is required
  • Windows: Windows Server 2019, 2022 or 2025 (64-bit); for small installations Windows 10/11 as well. Runs as a Windows service.
  • Linux: a current 64-bit distribution (Debian 12 or Ubuntu, for example); runs as a systemd service (a few system packages for the document engine may need to be installed).

Both variants offer the same feature set — the choice follows your existing IT landscape.

  • Delivered as a self-contained package — a separate .NET installation is not needed; text recognition (German and English) and the document engine are included.
  • The database and the search index are built in — no separate database server is required.
  • A single network port (a default that you can change); an encrypted connection (HTTPS) through an existing proxy or directly.
  • Document processing requires no internet or cloud access. An internet connection to the vendor’s licence server (https://license.administrator.at) is recommended, however, so that software licences and renewals can be retrieved automatically.
  • Optional: LibreOffice for converting certain Office formats.
  • Operated through a current web browser (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) — nothing to install on the workstation.
  • Optional additional programs: Docuflair Importer and Exporter for Windows.

The import and export tools place no demands beyond those of a normal office PC.

The desktop application for local offline redaction is a product of its own and needs no server — its requirements are listed under Docuflair Desktop → system requirements.
