Card readers

Card readers are devices that read identity or access cards. In Docuflair they let users sign in at the multifunction printer with their card — to collect pull print jobs or to identify themselves for the cost allocation, for example.

You reach the card reader management through the menu navigation under Devices > Card readers. This is where you configure rules that carry out actions automatically when a card is read at a multifunction device.

Permission required

To access this function you need the following permission:

  • Show card readers (AdminUI_DeviceManagement_ListCardReaders)

You grant permissions through groups — see permissions – overview.

The list shows every card reader rule configured, with its identifier, its description and the device assigned to it.

A click on Create sets up a new card reader rule. A rule consists of conditions and actions.

Function Description
Card reader The identifier of the card reader.
Description An optional description.
Target device The multifunction device the card reader is assigned to.
  • Condition: unknown card content

  • Condition: the card reader matches a user account:

The following actions can be carried out when a card is recognised:

  • Sign in at / out of the device
  • Print the last print job
  • Print every print job
  • Print the print jobs and delete them
  • Print from a storage location or a queue
  • Delete every job
  • Run an external program
  • Release scan jobs

You can edit a card reader at any time. The conditions and the actions can be adjusted later.

You delete rules one at a time or through the multiple selection.

Once created, the new card reader appears in the list of card readers.
