Scan release

Normally, scanned documents are processed and stored automatically straight away. Scan release adds an intermediate step: the document is held first, so that an authorised person can review, correct or release it before further processing.

This function is available for scanned documents only and requires a corresponding licence.

Permission required

To access this function you need the following permission:

  • Show scanned jobs (AdminUI_ScanManagement_ListScannedJobs)

You grant permissions through groups — see permissions – overview.

If the release document manually option is enabled in the output of a workflow or another scan destination, the document is processed but held until an authorised operator (the same user or a specialist) reviews and releases the documents through the scanning/Scan release menu entry. Where necessary, the operator also has functions available for revising the scanned document.

List of documents in scan release

You can release or delete a document straight from the list by clicking the corresponding commands in the right-hand column. A click on the pencil lets you edit a document. The detail view opens, with various image enhancement functions.

Editing a document in scan release

In the toolbar, Back returns you to the list. Reset restores the document’s original state, undoing every change. Release document releases the document you have edited and transfers it to its destination. Delete document discards the document; the application then returns to the list of documents in scan release.

The editing tools on the right-hand side always apply to the preview currently displayed. A click on the bin in the thumbnail view deletes individual pages.

The list of image editing functions available is extended continuously and currently comprises:

  • Removing black edges
  • Automatic deskewing
  • Removing punch hole marks
  • Producing a negative
  • Despeckling (removing noise)
  • Rotations
