Moving to IIS

IIS (Internet Information Server) is Microsoft’s web server, which serves websites and web applications. Docuflair runs on the simpler IIS Express by default; for production use, though, moving to the full IIS is recommended — it is more stable and offers more configuration options.

In production environments, using the full Internet Information Server shipped with Windows Server or Windows Professional is recommended. Note that running Docuflair on the full Internet Information Server requires the ASP.NET 4.8 component and possibly further modules.

Install the components required with the following steps:

• Open a command window with administrative rights (run as administrator)
• Run the following command:
  Dism /NoRestart /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:IIS-ASPNET45 /FeatureName:IIS-ManagementScriptingTools /FeatureName:IIS-ApplicationInit /FeatureName:IIS-HttpRedirect /FeatureName:IIS-IPSecurity /FeatureName:IIS-HttpCompressionDynamic /All
• Close the command window once the installation has finished

To prevent the internal IIS Express shipped with Docuflair from continuing to run, carry out the following steps:

• Stop the Docuflair service
• Create an empty file named
  x:\Docuflair\instances\default\data\services\IIS Express.disabled

To register the Docuflair services in the full Internet Information Server, carry out the following steps:

• Open a command window with administrative rights (run as administrator)
• Go to the directory
  x:\Docuflair\instances\default\bin
• Run the following batch file:
  IISREG.cmd
• Close the command window once the registration has finished

Where the full version of the Internet Information Server is to be used for every future update of Docuflair as well, create a further empty file: c:\Windows\Docuflair_iis_enabled.dat That file tells the Docuflair installer that IIS Express is not needed and that the configuration of the full version of the Internet Information Server should be used automatically.

Now restart the Docuflair services. Restarting the Internet Information Server is recommended as well.
