Installing on macOS

There are two installation packages for macOS — choose the right one for your Mac:

  • Docuflair.PrintAgent-<version>-osx-arm64.pkg — Apple silicon (M processors)
  • Docuflair.PrintAgent-<version>-osx-x64.pkg — Intel

The package sets up the following automatically:

Path Content
/usr/local/docuflair/printagent/ The service and app binaries
/usr/libexec/cups/backend/docuflair The CUPS backend
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.docuflair.printagent.plist The background service (starts at system start-up)
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.docuflair.printagent.tray.plist The status bar app (starts at every user sign-in)

The CUPS queue FollowYou is also created; right after installation, the status bar app starts for the signed-in user.

Users enter the address once in the status bar app’s sign-in window — it is passed to the service automatically. For managed rollouts you can alternatively preset it in the file appsettings.Production.json under /usr/local/docuflair/printagent/, see the configuration reference; then restart the service:

Terminal-Fenster
sudo launchctl kickstart -k system/com.docuflair.printagent
Terminal-Fenster
sudo launchctl print system/com.docuflair.printagent
lpstat -p FollowYou
echo "Hello Docuflair" | lp -d FollowYou

The test job then has to appear in the status bar app (after signing in, with the status Uploaded). The service’s log files live under /Library/Logs/Docuflair/PrintAgent/.

Simply install the newer package — the sign-in and any waiting jobs are preserved.

Terminal-Fenster
sudo launchctl bootout system/com.docuflair.printagent
sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.docuflair.printagent.plist
sudo rm /Library/LaunchAgents/com.docuflair.printagent.tray.plist
sudo rm /usr/libexec/cups/backend/docuflair
sudo lpadmin -x FollowYou
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/docuflair
